Online Resources


The Online Library System developed by the Jockey Club Sign Bilingualism and Co-enrolment in Deaf Education Programme aims at providing a sign-supported learning platform for teachers, parents and students. Besides learning Hong Kong Sign Language, the platform also provides resources that support deaf children’s learning and reading. Some of these resources are available only for Deaf and hearing students in the Programme, some of the resources will also open to the public. The Online Library System is mainly divided into 4 sections:

Baby Signing (Open for public viewing)
Hong Kong Sign Language video clips in the Baby Signing section are some of the teaching materials used in the current Baby Signing Class of the Programme. This section includes 30 daily topics, where students, parents and teachers could learn common vocabularies and basic sentence structures in Hong Kong Sign Language.

Chinese Readers Series (Viewable for users who has purchased the Chinese Readers Series)
This section includes Hong Kong Sign Language video clips produced based on the 50 story books of the Chinese Readers Series developed by the Programme. Video clips cover natural Hong Kong Sign Language signs referring to relatively more difficult vocabularies(if applicable), explanation of these vocabularies in Hong Kong Sign Language and examples of the usage of these vocabularies in the stories. All these will allow students understand the stories better. Parents and teachers could download specific worksheets for each story for free. Those who purchased the Chinese Readers Series can create an account for viewing this section through the link indicated in the books.

English Books (For students of the Programme only)
This section includes Hong Kong Sign Language and English oral video clips of English sentences and vocabularies from ‘Shared-Reading Programme-Mice Series’ (10 books) published by Pearson Education Asia Limited, ‘Sight Word Readers’ (8 books) published by Creative Teaching Press and ‘Little Red Readers’ (14 books) published by Macmillan Education Australia, produced with consent from the publishers. The aim is to let students understand English content better through sign language support, to help students in practicing oral English through observing mouth-shapes and lip movements. Meanwhile, these materials also help students learn Hong Kong Sign Language.

I Can Read (For students of the Programme only)
With the consent of the Greenfield Education Centre, a set of Hong Kong Sign Language video clips on the 84 story books in I Can Read series was produced. These video clips contain vocabularies, sample sentences and the complete story. This set of video clips will help students understand Chinese content better through sign language support. Meanwhile, students can also learn Hong Kong Sign Language from these videos.
