Participating in Conferences and Seminars

From July 3rd to 5th, 2014, the centre director -- Prof. Gladys Tang and three research assistants/students -- He Jia, Li Qun, Li Jia, were invited to visit the National Research Centre of Sign Language & Braille in Beijing Normal University and Tianjin Normal University. 

During the visit in Beijing Normal University, the centre staff presented our researches to the experts and staff in the National Research Centre of Sign Language & Braille. The presentations have received undiluted enthusiasm. Questions related to how Hong Kong’s experience in promoting sign language and improving deaf education could be adapted to Mainland China were asked. Our staff answered those questions thoughtfully in hope of contributing to the deaf education in Mainland.

The discussion with Tianjin Normal University focused on language assessment. The two parties presented their own works and exchanged ideas in assessing language development. Our staff also reported their progresses and findings in child spoken and sign language acquisition. This exchange of experience is surly helpful for us to develop and revise our assessment tools.
