Professor Gladys Tang was invited to present her research at the first international conference of comparative studies of East Asian sign languages. In that presentation, she examined the acquisition of viewpoint aspect in Hong Kong Sign Language by a deaf child. The two-day conference saw an emergence in the interest of sign linguistics research in Asia.
