Press Conference: First Batch of Deaf Students Graduated from Asia Pacific Sign Linguistics Research and Training Higher Diploma Program

A press conference was held on 3 December 2013 to announce the graduation of the first cohort of APSL students.

The press conference was introduced by APSL director Prof. Gladys Tang, who explained the history and aims of the APSL program. This was followed by a word from APSL regional manager Prof. James Woodward, who talked to the press about his work promoting sign language research in Asia. APSL graduates Kenny Chu, Laura Lesmana Wijaya, and K.K. Brayan Susantha then shared their experiences studying in the program and their plans for the future. Finally, the press had an opportunity to speak to the graduates and Prof. Gladys Tang and ask further questions about the program, their study experiences and the situation of deaf education in their own countries.
